Brent took this picture about 7:30pm last night roughly 15 minutes before sunset. We lose about 6 minutes of daylight per day. Our shortest day will be December 21, when the sunrise will be at 10:08am and the sunset will be at 3:42pm (day length of 5:34). Because mountains surround Girdwood, the sun sets behind the mountains long before the official sunset. Some houses in Girdwood don't see direct sunlight for about 3 weeks during the winter.

Nightfall Earlier Everyday
