Termination Dust

Termination Dust is the term Alaskans use in reference to the first snow that falls in the mountains. It is an indication that summer is ending and winter is on its way. Autumn only lasts a few weeks. We saw termination dust about a week ago, and the snow line has progressively been moving down the mountainside. This is a picture of termination dust on the hills of south Anchorage.

  1. We are enjoying a beautiful fall- it 's 8:00 and 57 degrees. sunny. I guess our equivelant to termination dust is called Benny flight- it is when the vacationers go home! and the beach is empty except for people you know and you stop calculating time to find a parking spot in you travel arrangements.

Last week, I sat on the beach with emma (both of us with our change in the weather colds) for 4 hours and watched the dolphins show off beyond the jetty. This is a special time at the Shore. Here it is already dark by 7 but sunrise is like early. Keep the good stuff coming- love hearing it! Tasha
