Kodiak, Part 2

Down at the docks, I came across this crane used to bring ships out of the water for repair, repainting, etc. The crane looks smaller than it is.

Here's a video that shows a vessel up on blocks being painted, and the dock/crane most likely used to put it there.

Here's a picture of me between the 8 foot crane wheels to give you a sense of scale.

The Cornelia Marie, made famous, by Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch," was in Kodiak while I was there. It was a larger ship than I expected it would be.

Kodiak is known for its fishing. When it's this beautiful, you might not mind it so much if you don't catch anything. On this trip, I didn't go fishing, but I did enjoy watching others fish for a few minutes. Plus, I ate some of the best sushi of my life at the Old Powerhouse Restaurant. I must say that I enjoyed my time on Kodiak and look forward to returning with Liz.
