Churches In Girdwood

Since arriving in Girdwood we have attended Girdwood Chapel, a United Methodist Church. On a number of occasions when the pastor has been away, Brent has preached at our church (we'll blog about this soon).

The building we meet in was built in the 1960's and is rather cozy (31 feet x 31 feet)! There is no bathroom or plumbing so a port-a-potty is available outside. In 2003 the building was placed on the back of a flatbed trailer and moved to its present location.

In addition to Girdwood Chapel, the town of Girdwood also has what we call the Catholic-Mormon Church. No, it's not a new hybrid denomination, it has to do with sharing a common building space, The Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows. It is an ecumenical interfaith facility where other faiths utilize the building for services, weddings and other events.
