Lord Of The Rings Marathon Weekend

The Lord of the Rings 2007 Calendar

Recently we were graced with a visit from Susannah and Moriah, the eldest twin daughters of Julie; and Samuel, son of James, from the region of Girdwood in the valley of the Chugach Mountain range for a Lord of the Rings (LOTR) movie marathon weekend. We were watching the extended edition (definitely worth every minute of the 12+ hours), but only got through The The Hunt for Gollum (online), The Fellowship of the Ring, and The Two Towers, so we will schedule part two to see The Return of the King in the near future. LOTR is one of our favorite movies because of its redemptive nature. Characters undergo significant transformation through facing their fears and overcoming significant trials. Every time we watch it we gain new insights and valuable life lessons.
After watching the movies we had the rest of the Doepken family join us for a picnic dinner on the lake here at the camp.

Here's Jim relaxing after rowing the family around the lake!
