Road Trip: Denali Part 2

Denali is majestic. God's creation is so evident as you look in every direction. I ran across this quote awhile back. While the quote is specifically written about Denali (an Athabaskan Indian name which means "The High One"). I would also say it applies to the whole state of Alaska:

“Yet all is not ice and rock here, this is a land of transformation. A journey over this ground has the power to change you. Come here and the world will never seem quite the same… For this is a place where elements ally not to destroy life but to shape it and make it strong.” -Reader’s Digest Alaska’s Great Wilderness Denali video, 1998

We are blessed to live in such a beautiful state!

The ironic thing about Mt. McKinley is that you can actually see it better if you are further away, in particular the Talkeetna area. We were thankful that we were able to see a glimpse of the 20,320 feet peak.

Here's Natasha by one of the many streams with "overflow ice" still present in June.

Whenever we visit Denali we enjoy visiting The Salmon Bake restaurant.

The food is always delicious!

  1. I did not realize that Mckinley is more than double the elevation of Mt. Bachelor, Or. Zowie! Bachelor is 9065 ft. at the summit. But, then again, it's Alaska!
